Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island

#1 of 14 in Things to do in Harbour Island
Take a swim or stroll along the pale pink sands of Pink Sands Beach. The sand's color results from deceased microscopic organisms with pink or red shells that live on the seafloor, the underside of reefs, and rocks. While walking along the 5 km (3.1 mi) shoreline, you'll notice the brighter shades of pink in the wet sand along the water's edge. Swim in the calm turquoise waters, protected by the outlying reefs. Bring a camera to capture the colors, and consider taking a horseback ride on the scenic beach.
