Lucayan National Park, Grand Bahama Island
Venture though the six different ecosystems at Lucayan National Park, an ideal spot for the family to explore a variety of tropical habitats. The park stretches across 40 acres (16 ha) and sits 40 km (25 mi) east of Freeport. Hike through the park's diverse vegetation of mangroves, ferns, pine trees and a vast array of rare and exotic flowers. Stroll along the pristine Gold Rock Beach featuring its unique rippled sand endlessly dipping in and out of shallow water. The park also holds one of the world's most expansive underwater cave systems with a labyrinth of tunnels, a result of the island's unique limestone geology. Lucayan National Park Reviews
Great, wild park, to walk around. And in the end you get surprised - the best beach ever, and with no crowd. more »
Came to the island to celebrate a recent graduation. The water is some of the clearest I’ve seen, the further you go, the clearer it gets; look down and still see my feet. Very calm warm waters, lush ... more »
With Grand Bahama Nature Tours we visited the Lucayan National Park. This was an awesome jeep tour! We got some automatic or manual speed jeeps, with radio communication with the guide. We had a very nice guide, Sammy, who helped us a lot on the route. We got to see this beautiful park, the Ben's Cave and an awesome beach where we had plenty if time to swim and explore the area. Bring with you: your camera, a cap, sunscreen, bathing suit and beach towel, some money for the lunch, around 15$/person. The tour started at 8:30 until 16:00 and we got to drive a lot the jeep, which was fun. This tour worth the money (96$/person).
This place wasn't as busy as it should be. Maybe March is the off season, but I would expect more people to come and check out all the caves and stuff. Entrance fees are super cheap, and there weren't many people at all. Ben's cave alone was a treasure that should be seen by more people. There is lots of diving here, but land dwellers can also find plenty to see. Would certainly go again.
