  • The collection is so vast and extensive, one would need at least half a day just to browse through it.  more »
  • This museum houses the art treasures that have brought the Habsburgs together in their time. Collections from ancient Egypt as well as Renaissance and Baroque art. This museum (1891) was built for the extensive art collection of the Imperial family. An unprecedented collection! It is the third most important museum in the world. The interior is beautiful, a masterpiece in itself thanks to the interplay between decoration and exhibited works. The large opulent staircase hall jumps into the eye. Antique collections, with collections from Egypt and the Near East, sculptures, the coin cabinet with more than 700,000 pieces that are more than 3 centuries old, and is one of the most important in the world, the prestigious art room with about 2,200 precious Objects. But the folding piece is undoubtedly the painting gallery with the largest Breughel collection in the world. (Pieter Breughel the Elder.) Other works by famous master painters such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Dijck, are also to be admired here. Impressive Museum! You should see this in Vienna! Take your time and admire.

  • Great museum. Try not to get overwhelmed. Just stroll through the galleries and so off of something inevitably catches your eye... Then have a close look and move on. Otherwise this could take a week to look around properly. The cafe is also an amazing space and worth a stop off.
