Danube Tower, Vienna

4.1
#35 of 966 in Things to do in Vienna
Take in a panoramic overview of the city from the 252 m (827 ft) tall Danube Tower. Opened in 1964 during the preparation for the Viennese International Horticultural Show, this structure has become a part of the skyline. Use one of the two high-speed elevators to reach the observation deck at 150 m (490 ft). The glassed-in terrace shields the visitors from strong winds and bad weather conditions. Danube Tower is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Vienna Edition.

  • My girlfriend and I visited the Danube Tower recently and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice it is and the cafe at the top of the tower was exceptional. We spent about an hour in the cafe and really enjoyed the food and the service was great. The view is spectacular and because its constantly moving, at a very slow pace, you get a very unique view of the city. Would definitely recommend it if you're taking a trip to Vienna. Oh a tip, get the Vienna pass if you're going for a few days. Its worth if you are planning on seeing a lot of the sights.
  • It is an absolutely beautiful view even if the day is cloudy. We spent an hour in the tower café and enjoyed the view, while the platform was spinning slowly and we could admire the whole view without getting up from the table. It's easy to go with Hop On Hop Off
