Schloss Gobelsburg is the oldest winery in the Danube region with a documented history back to 1171. The history of the winery is connected to Cistercian monks, but since January 1996 the Château and winery is managed by Eva & Michael Moosbrugger (Winemaker of the year 2006, Wine & Spirits Winery of the year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 & 2014). Nowadays the winemakers are focusing on the production of authentic and noble wines from different terroirs. Schloss Gobelsburg is a member of Österreichische Traditionsweingüter, an organisation, who is working on a vineyard classification system in the danube area.Arrange to visit Weingut Schloss Gobelsburg and other attractions in Gobelsburg using our Gobelsburg travel planning app.

We came in for a tasting without a booking and Lisa was amazing! She gave us a fantastic overview of the wine regions in the area, how wines are classified in Austria along with a few suggestions for our day while driving through the region. Highly recommended first stop from Vienna.
