Battle of Bosworth and Spring Seed Wine Co makes single vineyard, organically grown wines from our family vineyards located in McLaren Vale, South Australia.

Battle of Bosworth was established in 2001 by Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith, and the wines take their name from the original Battle of Bosworth, fought on Bosworth Field, Leicestershire, England in 1485.

Vineyards were established in the early 1970’s by Joch’s parents on the site of a derelict almond grove. Joch began the conversion of the vineyards to organic viticulture in 1995, and now all of our vines are certified 100% ‘A’ grade organic by Australian Certified Organic P/L.

Battle of Bosworth and Spring Seed Wine Co make wines with flavour, texture, purity and balance, that best express the unique characteristics of their McLaren Vale foothills site.

  • We stopped in to taste the wines as my mate used to be as bar manager and sold their wines and wanted to check out the source. It is a quaint, family owned winery that still has the charm that other more industrial wineries now lack. I wish I got her name but the lady at the cellar door was absolutely wonderful. Full of knowledge and entertaining stories. A down to earth winery fantastic tasting wines. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
  • Absolutely loved this place and the wines. Delightful setting, very pretty cellar door, fantastic wines that we loved at the cellar door, brought home, and were even better with food, so much so that we are going back before we leave to buy a couple of cases. Lovely staff member who also helped out with local knowledge and recommended some other great places.
