Step back in time at Timbertown Wauchope, a family-friendly attraction depicting the colonial era of a sawmiller’s village in northern New South Wales. Located on 39 hectares (87 acres) of coastal blackbutt (a species of eucalyptus) forests, this site is an interactive village-museum opened in 1976. The area’s key attraction is a working full-size narrow-gauge steam train, which rides on a short circuit track within and around the village. You can also choose to explore the area on horse and carriage rides. There are several businesses operating in the village, including a blacksmith, timber furniture maker, and a souvenir/confectionery shop. You can purchase local woodwork, artwork, and craft items from a number of skilled village artisans. With our custom trip planner, Wauchope attractions like Timbertown Wauchope can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.
Timbertown Wauchope Reviews
We visited with family on a warm but rainy day. Enjoyed the steam train, horse and cart ride, blacksmith, woodworkers, etc. More authentic foods would have been good. The cockatoo seemed a bit lonely. more »

Interesting look back in local history. Loved the steam train ride, horse 'n' carriage rides and static displays. We purchased some really nice locally made "Timbertown" wines and port. Had lunch at Timbertown and the meals were generous. However, the attraction could do with some cash injection as it is looking a little run down.
Well worth a visit! Really enjoyed our time at Timbertown with glimpses of life back in time Thought entrance fee very reasonable which included all the activities! We especially enjoyed rides on Mini train, steam train and horse and carriage. Fascinating looking at all the toys made of wood and how steam machines and water wheels worked. Living very hard back then and activities time consuming - so much we take for granted today. Thank you Family owners of Timbertown - you are greatly to be commended for providing such a valuable family friendly experience
