Trip Planner: South Pacific / Australia / Queensland / Gold Coast / Springbrook / Purling Brook Falls
The Purling Brook Falls or sometimes incorrectly Purlingbrook Falls, a horsetail waterfall on the Purling Brook, is located in the UNESCO World Heritagelisted Gondwana Rainforests in the South East region of Queensland, Australia.Plan a Gold Coast trip in moments using our itinerary builder.
The Purling Brook Falls are situated within the central section of Springbrook National Park as part of the Shield Volcano Group, at Springbrook which is part of the Gold Coast hinterland, south-west of Surfers Paradise.
After heavy rains the falling waters creates a spectacle that attracts large numbers of tourists. At these times the danger from falling rocks during landslides can be hazardous so barricades are erected to prevent walking along tracks that pass the base of the falls.

We have done both the short walk straight down to Purlingbrook Falls and the long walk (16km) from the Springbrook National Park car park. The short walk is pleasant and quite easy. My 8 year old daughter and my 74 year old father (who had a hip replacement only 6 months ago) did it not problems and took around an hour. The waterfall is amazing. You can swim at the base of the waterfall which is cool, and refreshing (especially after the long walk).
A great walk! It took roughly around 2 hours to do the Purling Brook falls circuit (2 adults - moderate fitness level). The track itself is very easy to follow and there are some spectacular sights of the waterfall and tropical foliage. Be aware that there was a lot of rustling during the walk due to these little buggers (see picture)
