Cape Nelson lighthouse, Portland

Must see · Lighthouse · Tourist Spot
A location for the 2010 romantic drama "South Solitary," Cape Nelson lighthouse is the picture perfect image of a harrowing white tower at the edge of the sea. The beacon rises above heath covered hills among cottages that offer accommodations. Completed in 1884, the lighthouse is the savior of many a seaman sailing along the coast of Australia. It still stands as a monument to lighthouse keepers who have spent their evenings keeping the lamp lit. Plan my day in Portland using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

  • Really interesting. It would be great to stay in the lighthouses keepers cottage. Very nice cafe there
  • Great view, a shame the cafe was closed at 3.30 on a Sunday afternoon. Would definitely recommend a look, if you are in Portland. But don't forget the aerogaurd lots of flys!
