Port Lincoln Railway Museum, Port Lincoln

#24 of 31 in Things to do in Port Lincoln
Specialty Museum · Hidden Gem · Museum
The Museum is housed in the beautiful heritage-listed stone station

building and the nearby freight shed at Port Lincoln. The parcels

office, ticket office and Stationmaster’s office are largely unchanged

from when they were in active use. Two other rooms now house the

Museum’s documentary and photographic archives.

Larger displays are at the freight shed, including track displays, some

gangers’ trollies and an early fettlers’ tent. A few items of freight

rollingstock round out the collection with some examples of vehicles

that ran only on the Eyre Peninsula lines. There are also some early

work train vehicles from the Commonwealth Railways which were

last used on BHP’s Coffin Bay Tramway at Port Lincoln.
