Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden, Port Augusta

Featuring native and introduced plants from arid environments, Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden spreads over an area of 250 hectares (618 acres) and offers panoramic views of the Flinders Ranges. Established in 1993, the garden was designed to bring attention to arid-zone ecosystem conservation. Visit the site’s interpretive center, which introduces visitors to important environmental concepts through a number of educational and entertaining displays. Also included is a well-known eremophila garden, noted for a huge collection of over 155 varieties of colorful flowers. The garden shelters large populations of reptiles, mammals, and insects, and is home to over 100 species of birds.
