Florence Falls, Litchfield National Park

#3 of 14 in Things to do in Litchfield National Park
Take a refreshing dip in the clear waterhole at the base of Florence Falls. Nestled in a nook of a wet monsoon forest, the two waterfalls pour down over a series of segmented tiers. This favorite swimming spot in Litchfield National Park can be easily accessed via a flight of about 160 steep steps--the climb back up takes a little more effort. The lookout at the top offers panoramic views and an opportunity to snap some postcard-perfect photos. Expect to see a number of people at the plunge pool, most of them sitting around the edges and just a few taking a swim. • Believe it or not. A (fresh) place in Northern Territory where you can swim WITHOUT crocodile. So nice. And beautiful also.
  • Pros: Its a lovely spot near to Darwin NT. Crystal clear water at a soothing normal temperature. You can see fish under the clear water. A spacious change room is available for private use. Cons: 139 steps to get down for a dip. Not recommended for small kids as no access with Pram. Bottoms are bit rocky though. A tiny snake was spotted during our swim near to the platform so keep an eye. You can be fined by the authorities if get caught jumping from the high rocks.
