Tasman Bridge, Hobart

#27 of 232 in Things to do in Hobart
Bridge · Tourist Spot
Opened in 1964, Tasman Bridge is one of the world’s earliest box-girder cantilever bridges, most famous for the fact that it collapsed one night in 1975. The rebuilt bridge is now the main road link between Hobart's eastern and western shores. Walk over the bridge for a sensational view of the blue Derwent River. • Saw this bridge on the way to and from MONA. It is just ordinary looking but the story of a boat crushing into it in the 1970s and causing some casualties was sad.  more »
