  • This is a cracking little brewery. If you are looking for a view, great location etc this isn’t the spot but if you are into really good craft beers, this is worth a visit. The variety for such a small brewery is fantastic and each of the 5 beers I tried I will be looking out for in my local bottle shop!
  • I don't like leaving negative reviews and rarely do so, so I'll be gentle in my comments. I enjoy a brewery that is rustic and warm in it's appeal (darker lighting, maybe some rough-sawn timber, etc.). Most breweries I've been to have fit that relaxed description. But I found this brewery to be somewhat sterile and cold in it's colours and layout. Not at all relaxing and no truly comfortable seating; just hard benches/stools. Every brewery I've been to excels in a friendly, "matey" approach. A few laughs and very chilled. The owners/brewers were pleasant enough on this quiet day but were little more than factual in their comments. When we took a few moments to work out what drinks our group were going to order, we felt we were holding them up from something. Lastly, the beer itself. I tried three. Two were OK but nothing to write home about. I also ordered a strong, dark beer with higher alcohol volume (9%?) and was told that, due to it's alcohol volume, it's only served in tiny glasses (2/3 middy?). I've never come across that before. Breweries in Newcastle serve such beers (even 12%) in pint glasses if you ask! Sensible serving of alcohol is good, of course. But I felt this took it too far. Mind you, I found that brew to be way over-powering in flavour and I wouldn't have wanted any more! Going on other reviews (getting an average of 4.9 stars at the time of this writing), others are clearly enjoying the brewery. I'm happy about that. However, for my part, I feel it's just missing the mark by just a little: In venue feel, in friendliness, and in beer quality and uniqueness.
