City Hall, Brisbane

4.5
Government Building · Landmark
One of Brisbane’s most renowned sights, elaborate, stone-columned City Hall stands out against the backdrop of a number of the city’s glassy skyscrapers. Opened in 1920 and built in the style of the Italian Renaissance, the building has hosted royal receptions, concerts, flower shows, and political meetings. The 91 m (298 ft) clock tower makes City Hall one of the most iconic, recognizable images of Brisbane. • What a wonderful building this is It is huge and to think it was built in just 2 years is astounding. Full of history and stories.  more »
  • Walked around this beautiful central area of Brisbane City Hall & blends in well with surrounding modern structures. Unfortunately we weren't able go up to the Clock tower being closed & re-opening...  more »

  • Fascinating history and building. Make sure you do the free guided tour as they will show you around places you won't find on your own. Our guide took us into the council chambers and last time I got to see the Lord Mayor's office. The auditorium is beautiful space and I'd love to see the organ being played. Highly recommend the Brisbane Museum too.
  • Entree is free to this magnificent structure. Quite a few things to explore here. Took a walk upstairs through the magnificent steps to visit the auditorium, which was beautiful. I believe they have free guided tours. Also, visited the top of the tower close to where the clock is located in the restored lift, which is close to 100 years old. Again it was free, but you need to get your tickets in advance as places for each tour is strictly limited. They also have a small museum situated here that shows the history of Brisbane City. Loved my experience here.
