Must see · Scenic Drive · Tourist Spot
Try to catch a race at Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit if you're lucky enough to be in town when one's scheduled. This famous and unusual track features a 174 m (570 ft) difference between its highest and lowest points and uncommonly steep grades for a modern circuit. Tight turns, long straights, and steep hills make for thrilling races for both drivers and spectators. The track serves as a public road when organized races aren't using it, so take your own car for a spin if you're traveling with one and the track is empty. • Hubby decided we had to do the obligatory lap of the mountain, yes we sped around it at full throttle 40klm 😆, but I am in aw of the racing drivers that travel around there at top speed, don’t know.....  more »

  • Mount Panorama circuit is one epic track with insane elevation that can only be truly appreciated by visiting and walking the whole 6.2km track. The amenities are some of the best you'll ever have for camping if you're here for a big event. The track is a public road so you can drive it yourself (60km/h speed limit) To watch cars race this at just over 2 minutes is a mind blowing feat not to be passed up. I am happy to tick this epic race circuit visit off my bucket list.
  • A great facility to visit any time of the year, whether for a race weekend or simply a drive around the famed circuit. It’s great to see good money being used to maintain the facility as well, as other racetracks have come and gone in years past. I like to attend the two major race meetings each year: the 1000 in October and the 12hr at the beginning of the year. The atmosphere at the 1000 is unsurpassed almost anywhere in the world, but the 12hr is great to check out the action up close. Spectators can view all parts of the racetrack except: the second half of Mountain Straight through to the end of the Cutting and; Conrod Straight. Get ready for a big trek if you want to walk the top of the Mountain though!
