  • We visited this remote monastery complex on a day out from Vayk and found it very interesting although small and not in a very good state of repair. The views from here are fantastic but you do need.....  more »
  • There are more impressive monasteries in this part of the country, but travelers who are in the area and can make the drive or hike might consider a visit to Spitakavor if they have the extra time. There are two ways to access the monastery: a dirt road leading to a parking area and a rocky path that slopes sharply up a hill. A freshwater spring drips out from a pipe at the top of the hill just below the church.
  • I recommend going up to the church through a mountain gorge. There is a trail about 6 km long, you can start around noon, it's a bit difficult way, but beautiful and interesting
