  • The Gevorkian Theological Seminary is a theological Institute of the Armenian Apostolic Church, which was founded in 1874 by Catholicos George IV., and it is located within the complex of St. Etchmiadzin. The Gevorkian Seminary is regarded as the oldest university in Armenia. We also learned that during the time of the genocide of the Armenians of Etchmiadzin with a large number of refugees was filled. Due to the tragic situation of the Armenian nation, Catholicos Gevork I. and the Director, Bishop Karekin Hovsepiants, decided to close the seminary - temporarily in December 1917 and it could become in the years 1921wiedereröffnet.
