Marmashen Monastery Reviews
Piccolo monastero del X-XI secolo in tufo dall'incantevole color albicocca, che si accende con la luce calda del tardo pomeriggio. La bellezza dell'architettura e delle raffinate decorazioni si sposa ... more »Small 11th-century monastery in apricot-coloured tuff, which lights up with warm light in the late afternoon. The beauty of the architecture and the refined decorations is combined with that of the surrounding landscape. Located a few kilometres north of Gyumri, it is reached via a mostly dirt and bumpy road, but still passable. Very recommended.
Il penultimo dei tanti monasteri che ho visitato in Armenia è fra quelli che mi sono più piaciuti. For beautiful, strong and streamlined structure of its main church but also because it is one of those who have best preserved until our days (and it shows). Of the original plant of its components (VII-X centuries) were mostly ruins, not devoid of interest, but the two buildings in and around 1201 are almost in perfect condition (only small patches) and I was impressed. Is largely the 3000 drams a taxi round trip from Gyumri. Also because on the website you will find a nice young and chatty Armenian lady that we recite in English throughout the history of the monastery and, having contributed to the cleaning of the Church, will offer the products of its artistic vocation, including costumed dolls really nice, here you can buy for a price (8000 dram) which is about half that of the most beautiful shops where they sale articles to the same standard.
Monastery of 11th century with nice scenery around - river, mountains, gorges, orchards.
Here one can feel so much emotions. The monastery is dating back to the 13th century and Akhuryan river is running next to it. .
