  • A typical Armenian church, built near the fortress of Amberd towards the gorge. Built around the year one thousand with the typical cruciform plant with a twelve-sided dome. Simple in décor but very suggestive in the surrounding environment.

  • The Vasgrashen church was built in the 11th century near the Armenian fortress of Amberd, located on the slope of Mount Aragats. The fortress and the church stand on the rocky terrain, near the flow of the Amberd and Arcachon rivers. In the X century the buildings belonged to the Princes Pakhlavuni, and in the year 1236 they were burnt by the Mongols, and after that they were not rebuilt. According to some data, the church and the fortress, like other nearby monuments, were founded by Ashoom Iron
