Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes, Villa La Angostura

Forest · National Park
Hike the peaceful trails of Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes, home to 300-year-old arrayan trees, endemic to the Andes. The park was created in 1971 with the sole purpose of protecting the fragile evergreen trees, known for their smooth cinnamon-colored bark and small white flowers. You can hike the 12 km (7.4 mi) from the park entrance to get to the forest, rent a mountain bike, or take a boat ride on Nahuel Huapi Lake. Stroll along the wooden pathway to admire these rare trees, and try to spot foxes, pudus, guanacos, and bush monkeys. Make Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes a part of your Villa La Angostura vacation plans using our Villa La Angostura trip itinerary planner.

  • JudypHHI has it right (see review below): the highlights of this forest are at the end of the peninsular (the Arrayanes forest itself) and the boar trip there or back. The 12km walk is pleasant and...  more »
  • We enjoyed this 3 hour long walk, 12 km one way. We would recommend walking the trail first from the town and then boating back. Otherwise the highlights are all at the beginning if you boat first...  more »

  • Easy access, the sidewalks are free to get in. You can take a boat trip to surround the island, get by trekking or even mountain bikes. There are several spots to shoot some amazing views. There are public bathrooms in the entrance.
  • Beautiful place, we did the one way trip by boat, the return one walking. This is recommended (unless you do both walking) since it is easier. Bring water and something to eat. The forest is just beautiful. It takes about 2 hours to do the boat and the Arrayanes, then about 3 the trekking.
