View an island populated by exotic creatures at Isla de Los Pajaros, a reserve established in 1967 to protect species of birds living in the Peninsula Valdes. This island houses hundreds of birds, including cormorants, egrets, oystercatchers, flamingos, penguins, and terns. Hire a boat to take you across the Beagle Channel for an up-close view, but don't count on entering the island. Visit the interpretation center, from which you can use binoculars to observe the birds, or check out the ranger's station for educational information on plant and animal life in the area.
