Trip Planner: South America / Argentina / Patagonia / Province of Tierra del Fuego / Ushuaia / Galeria Tematica Historia Fueguina
See the lifelike depictions of what the historical region of Argentina looked through the ages at Galeria Tematica Historia Fueguina. Detailed, full-size dioramas show examples of life from indigenous peoples through European colonization. Grab the English audio guide to walk you through each display. Some of the exhibits even allow you to enter and take photos from within. Look for the section that discusses the site's history (it used to be a prison). Afterwards, head to the adjacent art gallery and a shop, which sells souvenirs. Make Galeria Tematica Historia Fueguina a part of your Ushuaia vacation plans using our Ushuaia itinerary maker tool .

It is interactive, didactic and special to go with children and learn the history of Ushuaia from another perspective. We loved it! They are different seasons on 2 floors with dolls in life size that represent different eras. In some they allow you to approach and take pictures as part of the station. Each visitor is given a pair of headphones with an individual guide that relates what is observed in each station. At the end they screen a 15/20 minute video that summarizes the above. On the 3rd floor there is a confectionery and next to the museum a very complete place of memories with access to a park where there are also facilities to take funny photographs. Worth a place to stay for this place!! More than recommended
It's a bit expensive but really worth it. The audio guide (which you can choose between a few languages) tells the story of the region's native people, of the navigators that visited or settled in Ushuaia and the town's history. You can interact with the exhibition to take pictures in the scenes. If you are not a fan of history listening to the whole audio guide can get a bit boring, but you can still appreciate the museum's wax figures and scenes.
Looks entertaining from the outside; we didn't go in as it seemed completely tacky :-) and also because we by definition avoid tourist traps. But if you're into this kind of thing, it certainly looked interesting!
