Trip Planner: South America / Argentina / Patagonia / Province of Rio Negro / San Carlos de Bariloche / Cerro Tronador
With its peak climbing above all others in the region, Cerro Tronador stands out as a highlight of the southern Andes. You can get to the extinct stratovolcano by car, guided tour, or a tough trek. Get a spectacular perspective on the 3,491 m (11,453 ft) volcano from across Mascardi Lake, or walk along the hiking track for a view over the Castano Overa Glacier. Remember to pack warm and waterproof gear, as the area experiences regular rain and snow. If it is by car alone, all care is little, the road is very slippery with snow and narrow with many curves, I suggest going with excursion. Getting there is the wonderful place, one of the most beautiful I've ever seen in my life! Nature is amazing, it is very worthwhile.
Lugar sem infraestrutura nenhuma, imagens e paisagens linda, mas teriam q informar que com chuva não se vê e nem se aproveita nada, sem local para alimentação adequada, bandejão, filas, ou seja o pass... more »Place without infrastructure, images and beautiful landscapes, but they would have to inform that with rain do not see and do not enjoy anything, no place for proper food, tray, queues, ie the ride ends up being horrible. I'm not coming back.
I went here In August during there winter, and it was great, there was some snow in back in the town. But not much, here there was tons to play with. Also, the glacier was pretty, the lake was frozen and you can see the you are in the middle of the andes, and you can feel you are in a glacier. It was quite cold though at around -6:)
A surprise in Bariloche! The trip to it is time-consuming, but the stops on the way are amazing! Beautiful place where I saw snow!
