Monumento al Indio Tehuelche, Puerto Madryn

Monument · Hidden Gem · Landmark
Discover the history behind an unexpected cooperation between Welsh immigrants and indigenous Tehuelche people at Monumento al Indio Tehuelche. Built to commemorate the good relationship between the two groups--dating back to the arrival of the Welsh in 1865--the monument depicts a Tehuelche warrior brandishing a spear and gazing out to sea, atop a pile of rocks symbolizing the excavation that took place in the nearby cliffs. Join the warrior in surveying the ocean, and ponder how he must have felt when the first Welsh ships arrived. Plan my Puerto Madryn trip by asking Inspirock to come up with tips and suggestions.
