Costas de Patagonia, Puerto Madryn

#3 of 9 in Beaches in Province of Chubut
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Costas de Patagonia features a rugged desert-like landscape with dunes, cliffs, shoals, islets, and deep blue ocean inhabited by southern elephant seals, sea lions, and millions of Magellanic penguins. Walk along the shore across tranquil beaches covered in fine sand or pebbles. Bring binoculars and try to spot killer whales, dolphins, and the southern right whale--the largest marine mammal--which breeds in the calm waters here from May to December before returning to the open sea. Numerous beach huts provide shelter for a bit of respite, and you can enjoy a typical Patagonian meal, such as baby roasted lamb or meat empanadas, at one of the many restaurants. Other ways to explore this area of natural abundance include canoeing, kayaking, and diving. Make Costas de Patagonia a centerpiece of your Puerto Madryn vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Puerto Madryn trip planner.
