Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, El Calafate
Trip Planner: South America / Argentina / Patagonia / Province of Santa Cruz / El Calafate / Parque Nacional Los Glaciares
Enjoy breathtaking views of some of the world's most spectacular ice fields at Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. The expansive national park, which shares a border with Chile, contains 47 glaciers, with 30 percent of its total area covered by ice. Thanks to well-developed trails and viewing platforms, you can see some of these glaciers up close, as the raw mechanics of nature drive the ice ever so slowly towards its destination. Don't miss the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier, where you're likely to hear thunderous crashes as chunks of the glacier break off and fall into the water. Using our international travel planner, El Calafate attractions like Parque Nacional Los Glaciares can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

We went with a tour company called Patagonia Dreams by micro and took us first to where the boat was leaving to reach the glacier side. That boat was paid apart from the excursion. Once we got back, they took us to the catwalks where everyone could make the route they wanted. A nice place, too bad it was very touristy and I don't like that.
I will be as impartial as possible, even though the experience was not very good. As for the park itself stands out its walkways and viewpoints completely renovated that allow a free circular even more on winter days or strong winds. One because the viewpoints are protected with glass and ceilings (the most important) and two because the old slippery wooden corridors have been replaced by some metal labing that give good sustainability. Obviously to be able to contemplate one of the wonders of the world very beautiful and very ours. What I saw against it, the area is not well signposted, even more so if they do not find park rangers to be oriented (my case was early and after going a lot do not locate any only only after almost an hour). The area dedicated to people with disabilities or reduced mobility is also not well signposted and the elevator does not work. Buses or vans linking the first and second parking lots for free stop working early (17:00 hs and the park is open until 19:30 hours leaving seniors on foot). I believe that if these kinds of inconveniences were improved you could respect the tourist, not only national also the foreigner who abounds here and I create the impression that they take is not good in this case. Let's remember that the entrance to this park is twice the value compared to the Tierra del Fire, as if to give an example that is not paid little.
Is. A caress to the eyes and soul.
