Punta Tombo, Dos Pozos

Wildlife lovers go wild for Punta Tombo, a nature reserve sheltering the largest colony of Magellan penguins outside of Antarctica. Penguins come to the area from September to April to nest and look after their young, which are born in November. The rocky strip juts into the Atlantic Ocean, extending for roughly 3 km (1.86 mi). Visitors are free to enter the area and get close to the penguins, but must not touch or bother the creatures in any way. Bird enthusiasts also enjoy sightings of cormorants, oystercatchers, and kelp gulls. Just a couple hours' drive from Puerto Madryn, the park makes a worthwhile day trip. • The trip is a bit long from Madryn, rent a car because the tour was $3000 and there were 4 of us, so we wanted the car. The place is wonderful by scenery, in addition to the Penguin Colony. For me it was worth the trip. Unique landscape.

  • How many times do you have the chance to admire animals in their natural habitat? Visiting The Punta Tombo Penguin is an unparalleled experience. Through a path in the middle of the patgonica plateau you can witness the life of the penguins. To the point of being able to appreciate when they arrive from the Argentine Sea and walk in search of their home on the mainland.
