Antalya Muzesi, Antalya

4.7
#1 of 19 in Museums in Antalya Province
One of Turkey's largest museums, Antalya Muzesi showcases the history of the Mediterranean and Pamphylia regions in Anatolia through thousands of works of art. Founded in 1922, the museum's 13 exhibit rooms display 5,000 works. Each exhibit is dedicated to a specific theme, from natural history and prehistory to coins and ethnography. Wander from room to room to discover items as simple as arrowheads and as ornate as full-sized marble statues and sarcophagi from ancient civilizations. The museum is family-friendly and even includes a designated children's section, which displays antique kids' toys. • The Museum's collection is impressive. Immediately understand what civilization existed in these territories. 2 floors of the Museum and walk through the garden.

  • About the journey from the city centre you can use the tramway (tramway nostaljie). The Museum is the end of the line. The Museum is very interesting: starting with exhibits from the stone age through the bronze age up to the ancient times. AusPERGE the most part of the exhibition, the exhibits are (many statue etc.)

  • The older part of the Museum has fallen somewhat from the time. The new building with numerous impressive statues and sarcophagi but more than compensates for that. It is astonished by a magnificent work of art of antiquity to the other.

  • A decent museum with a large collection ranging from pre-history to late Roman times. Very little about the Middle Ages and Modern History though. The first floor boasts an astonishing collection of ancient coins. The entrance fee of 20TL (2018) is well worth it. At tip: try visiting around noon, when the day is at its hottest. You will love the giant air-conditioned halls.
  • Wonderful museum. It is true that the museum doesn't look like much from the outside but once you get in....there is the history you have been looking for! Best collection of gorgeous sculptures of the perfectionist Hellenistic and the realism of the classical era alike. Neolithic times up to the Ottoman Empire. If you are a lover of the world history roaming in Türkiye, you have got to get a Museum Card at once! Go for it. I was sooo exited I didn't even think about taking pictures. There are tons of pamphlets, tags and explanations to read. Did you know that the sculptures were mass produced by the order of the Roman Emperor and how they were mass produced? Go in there and learn. You will enjoy this museum a lot. Please say hi to all of the emperors and Alex the great for me. You are going in right? Ok.
  • wow I have NEVER seen so many ancient coins and they are beautiful. the exhibits are really sophisticately curated and I was awestruck by the "puzzle building" to put together statues that had been shattered into hundreds and even thousands of pieces. Well worth the visit especially for archeology fans.
  • Very very very good govermental museum... I hope they keep and improve it that way
  • wonderfull place. It has Amazing and unique sculptures.
