Antalya Muzesi, Antalya

#1 of 13 in Museums in Antalya Province
One of Turkey's largest museums, Antalya Muzesi showcases the history of the Mediterranean and Pamphylia regions in Anatolia through thousands of works of art. Founded in 1922, the museum's 13 exhibit rooms display 5,000 works. Each exhibit is dedicated to a specific theme, from natural history and prehistory to coins and ethnography. Wander from room to room to discover items as simple as arrowheads and as ornate as full-sized marble statues and sarcophagi from ancient civilizations. The museum is family-friendly and even includes a designated children's section, which displays antique kids' toys. • Were at the end of July 17th, it was very nice to walk around, feeling as though hit on many centuries ago). Competently arranged, there is a possibility to buy audio guide, supports the Russian language, in general do not get bored and it was very interesting, I recommend to all who are interested and not too bad to spend time and money). Is also convenient, arrived at in car rental, parking).

  • A superb display of the Perge Roman marble statues lifts this Museum into 5 star level. The older era exhibits could do with more labels and context. A good linear layout and garden and cafe/ gift shop.
  • Antalya Archeological Museum is wonderful. This museum is most important one of Ancient Greek and Mediterranean civilizations. Gorgeous sculptures waiting of you.
  • This is the best museum we have been to on this holiday, 3 1/2 months. Well laid out and quality exhibits.
  • Good museum , says mostly about Roman Greek empire and some of Ottoman empire as well , many interesting status of Roman and many of them in very good shape and the museum organised very well and I advise you to visit.
  • Splendid variety of historical artifacts have been kept here, right from stine age & bronze age to sculpture of greek, roman and ottoman empire

Where to stay in Antalya

The Mediterranean holiday spot of Antalya is abundant in places to stay. The Old Town of Kaleiçi boasts a plethora of small guesthouses and hostel offerings set in traditional Ottoman houses of stone. Often accompanied by a charming backyard pool and garden out front, these affordable accommodations are just a stone's throw from the harbor and amenities. You can find a few upscale boutique hotels here as well. If you're looking to splurge a little more, head to the suburb of Lara, just east of Antalya. Here, four- and five-star all-inclusive resorts dominate the sandy beaches.
