6 days in Kovalam & Munnar Itinerary

Famous for the groves of coconut trees from which it takes its name, Kovalam offers a long, white sandy beach on the Arabian Sea.

Kick off your visit on the 19th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Lighthouse Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Kovalam Beach, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, and finally don't miss a visit to Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple. On the 20th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: make a trip to Attukal Bhagavathy Temple, then kick back and relax at Hawa Beach, and then step off the mainland to explore Poovar Island.

Munnar to Kovalam is an approximately 3-hour combination of taxi and flight. You can also do a combination of taxi and bus; or drive. In April in Kovalam, expect temperatures between 38°C during the day and 30°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Sat) so you can travel to Munnar.

Sitting at the point where three mountain rivers meet, the hill station of Munnar has become known as a tea-growing center in the south of the country.

Spend the 23rd (Mon) exploring nature at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park. And it doesn't end there: take in nature's colorful creations at Tea Gardens, get great views at Top Station, take in the architecture and atmosphere at C.S.I Christ Church, and explore the activities along Kundala Dam Lake.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Kovalam to Munnar in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of taxi and bus; or drive. April in Munnar sees daily highs of 40°C and lows of 29°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
