One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Madurai sits on the banks of the River Vaigai and serves as a center of Tamil culture.

Bengaluru to Madurai is an approximately 2.5-hour combination of taxi and flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Thu) early enough to travel to Rameswaram.

A trip to Rameswaram on Pamban Island will take you across a long limestone shoal bridge with spectacular ocean scenery.

You can take a train from Madurai to Rameswaram in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Munnar.

Sitting at the point where three mountain rivers meet, the hill station of Munnar has become known as a tea-growing center in the south of the country.

On the 10th (Fri), take in nature's colorful creations at Tea Gardens. On the 11th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Tea Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Rose Gardens, then see human ingenuity at work at Mattupetty Dam, and finally take some stellar pictures from Top Station.

You can drive from Rameswaram to Munnar in 6.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus, train, and taxi; or do a combination of bus, flight, and taxi. In November, daily temperatures in Munnar can reach 38°C, while at night they dip to 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Sun) to allow time to travel back home.
