Auroville

Founded in 1968 by a Frenchwoman known locally as "The Mother," Auroville represented a kind of anarchist social experiment, where spirituality and communal living were supposed to override the importance of money.
Venture out of the city with trips to Ayyanar Falls (in Rajapalayam), Cuddalore (Sri Valli Devashena Shiva Subramanya Swamy Temple, Silver Beach, & more) and Alamparai Fort (in Kanchipuram). There's still lots to do: admire the striking features of Auroville, don't miss a visit to Irumbai Maakaaleswarar Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Mailam Murugan Temple, and steep yourself in history at Gingee Fort.

To find traveler tips, where to stay, ratings, and more tourist information, refer to the Auroville online tour planner .

Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
