Famous for the groves of coconut trees from which it takes its name, Kovalam offers a long, white sandy beach on the Arabian Sea.
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Sreekandeswaram Mahadeva Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll get in some beach time at Kovalam Beach and Samudra Beach. There's still lots to do: stroll through Lighthouse Beach, stop by Keralashopee, examine the collection at Puthenmalika (Kuthiramalika) Palace, and enjoy the sand and surf at Hawa Beach.

New Delhi to Kovalam is an approximately 5-hour combination of flight and taxi. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and taxi. When traveling from New Delhi in July, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Kovalam: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 28°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu) to allow time to travel to Munnar.

Munnar

Sitting at the point where three mountain rivers meet, the hill station of Munnar has become known as a tea-growing center in the south of the country.
Get some cultural insight at Tea Museum and C.S.I Christ Church. Take a break from the city and head to Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park and Swiftlet Cave Munnar. Step out of Munnar with an excursion to Lakkam Waterfalls in Marayur--about 56 minutes away. There's still lots to do: admire the natural beauty at Tea Gardens and see human ingenuity at work at Mattupetty Dam.

Kick off your visit on the 9th (Thu): take in the awesome beauty at Illikkal Kallu and then look for all kinds of wild species at Aiyyanpara. Do some cultural sightseeing at Parumala Church and Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple. Relax by the water at Marari Beach and Alappuzha Beach. A cultural capital on the state's relatively quiet northern coast, Kannur has long been associated with textile production and temple rituals, earning it the nickname, the "Land of Looms and Lores." Most Kannur itineraries will include observing theyyam rituals performed at the temples, where the traditions have origins dating back thousands of years.
Relax by the water at Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach and Choottad Beach. Visiting Meenkunnu Beach and Paithalmala will get you outdoors. Change things up with a short trip to Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple in Parassinikadavu (about 36 minutes away). There's lots more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Dharmadam Beach, get engrossed in the history at Arakkal Museum, steep yourself in history at Fort St. Angelos, and pause for some photo ops at Ezhimala Hanuman Statue.
