Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Basilica di San Marco and San Giorgio Maggiore. Get some cultural insight at Doge's Palace and Basilica di Sant’Antonio. When in Venice, make a side trip to see Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, approximately 52 minutes away. There's much more to do: get to know the fascinating history of St. Mark's Square, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Santa Maria dei Miracoli, wander the streets of Cannaregio, and pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute.
