Railay Beach, Railay Beach

#1 of 13 in Trails in Thailand
Take a dip into the calm waters at Railay Beach, an isolated strip of sand accessible only by boat. The beach especially attracts rock climbers eager to tackle the limestone cliffs that frame it, with some 700 climbing trails in the surrounding area. Whether or not you scramble up the cliff face you'll enjoy the spot's relaxed atmosphere, clean sand, and clear waters. Onsite restaurants and other amenities cater to a wide range of tastes. The impressive cliffs of the coast provide excellent photo opportunities, and the isolated nature of the beach means you get unimpeded shots of some of Thailand's best coastal landscape. • Beach overrated, largely occupied by boats that make an infernal noise. A lot of construction underway however, is a good party-zone for groups of friends who go there for that purpose.

  • Railay beach is a beautiful place, obviously. But as a holiday destination it is overrated. Little gastronomic offer, prices higher than the average in Thailand and an added drawback: their only means of connection with other places is by long-tail boat, inconvenient access and that is obligated to put your feet into the Sea whenever you raise or lower.

  • Sure, it looks nice and there're lots of limestone caves and Clift around Thailand. If your looking for a lot of food options, shops and lots of people on the beach, finding it hard to sit on the beac...  more »

  • The beach is not the biggest, but it is not busy since you can only get there by longtail boat. The quality of the sand is the best you will ever get. Water is wavy and not suitable for snorkeling, but it was warm and nice. Super nice views, its a unbelievable beach to check out
  • For only 100baht one way, you can ferry from Ao Nang beach to Railay Beach and get one of the best sands of any beach in Thailand. Scenery is good with the green mountains on the side. Water is not clear but still good to swim. a must see!
  • For such a busy beach, you can still find some peace. Caves and rock formations are outstanding.
  • If you want to relax sitting on the beach side railay is the best place, very beautiful and romantic. Not very crowded like AoNang and Phuket..you have to reach here by ferry from Aonang Pier..
  • Great beach, amazing views. A little bit too much people, but still "must see" place.
