Visit an important community-based project at Lanta Animal Welfare, a center committed to animal welfare, treatment, and care. Take a couple of the dogs for a walk along the picturesque beach, and pet animals in a safe, ethical environment. These creatures have lived hard lives before their stay at the institute, and love affection. • My day spent here was one of the best days of my trip! Go for the tour and a dog walk, and find yourself staying for hours so you can cuddle everyone! Kitty City is a brand new center for the dozens of adorable rescued cats they host. You can talk rescued dogs on a variety of fun walks in the area. Refuel and rehydrate at the little vegan cafe in between fun sessions with furry friends! They're doing such great work here, and it's so encouraging to see all of the adoptions going on!
  • We spent our last morning in Koh Lanta at Lanta Animal Welfare – wished we would have gone sooner so we could have come back every day! We had some drinks (good white wine) in the outdoor Kitty City cafe while snuggling cats and then walked a group of dogs for around an hour. Go early if you’d like to volunteer to walk dogs (around 9)! It was the best morning ever! Definitely check this place out and make sure you do the free tour of the facilities. These people are doing amazing work!
  • This is such an incredible establishment run by highly knowledgeable and humble animal lovers and volunteers. The tour was engaging throughout the hour, they've got a great vegan cafe that does nice wraps, cupcakes, coffees etc., and an impressive 'kitty city' where the cats sleep in mini hammocks and play. Veterinary care is free on the island and the staff do a great job patching up animals and providing a sanctuary for cats and dogs at a very high standard. I love that they've also created a restaurant/cooking school on the island where proceeds go straight back to the centre (Taste of Lime). I recommend all animals to do a tour and visit the place if you're ever in Koh Lanta, you can also help adopted pets fly to a country they've been adopted from if your schedule lines up 🐾
  • This place is well worth a visit and please make a contribution to them to continue the good work. If you have children who like to play with cats and dogs, this is the place to visit. It's free entrance and you can sit down in their newly opened cafe and have a wonderful chocolate brownie or just have a cold beer while watching little kittens playing around your legs.
  • Inspirational place that you have to visit if you go to Koh Lanta. They've transformed the animal welfare for cats and dogs on the island, and you can take free little guided tour around the premises to see all the gorgeous animals. You can take the dogs for a walk when it's cool, or just play with the cats scattered around the site, and they have drinks available if you're thirsty. We also did the Time for Lime cooking course which was 5 star, and helps fund the whole operation.

Most accommodations available in Ko Lanta sit on the west coast of the island. Close to the shore, you can find mid-range to expensive beach resorts and rental apartments. Expect to find less expensive rooms farther north and south along the coast, away from the main areas of development.
