Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit), Bangkok

4.4
#5 of 48 in Historic Sites in Bangkok
Witness the delicately modeled beauty of the world's largest gold seated Buddha at Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit). Many of Asia's golden statues were once covered in plaster and stucco to disguise them from invading armies during times of conflict. The discovery of this magnificent golden Buddha was accidental: a team of people moving the object dropped it, its plaster casing cracked, and the golden figure shone out after many years in hiding. Visit the established Bangkok temple complex to admire the Buddha's clear, crisp form and learn of its fascinating origins. A visit to Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit) represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Bangkok trip itinerary builder to plot your vacation.

Visited over the weekend. Slowly I was able to visit and not crowded in close to the station. Admission free for I wonder? Normally could go up to the main hall. In the Offertory box came Zakat money offering. Ceiling decoration was beautiful Buddha images are great, but. Not picky about Chinese and India based organization like there were many.

The temple has a beautiful architectural structure, white, upon which stands out even more gold and details. Always dress appropriately, out of respect.

Another must-see. The best time to visit is early in the morning to avoid the queues.

Very important and beautiful temple in Bangkok. Visited by many tourists. I recommend going with time since nearby are other important places to see. Entrance fee was 20 baht per pax for tourist.

Be prepared for an amazing experience as you walk into the temple and your eyes fall on that golden Buddha statue. I recommend visiting the museum before getting into the temple so that you find out a bit about the history of the statue.

This is a very beautiful temple. The golden Buddha is very big and it's made of pure gold.

The temple itself is nice, as is the golden Buddha. I have to keep 1 star because they allow parking inside the grounds making it difficult to take better photos and adds to the crowd.
