Lumpini Park, Bangkok

4.3
#1 of 991 in Parks in Thailand
Take a break from the concrete and glass hubbub of contemporary Bangkok at Lumpini Park, an open public space offering much-welcomed urban relief for residents and tourists. Trees, grass, and views unimpeded by nearby buildings are something of a rarity in the city center, contributing to this green space's immense popularity. Take a boat out onto the man-made lake or enjoy a bike ride along its many cycling and walking paths. With a library, playgrounds, and over 30 species of birds making their home here, the park has plenty to offer visitors of all ages. • I really love Lumpini Park. In the morning from 6 am to 8 am, there is a lot of activity with sport, dance, Qui Gong and Tai Chi. It is a must to go there.  more »
  • Bangkok is a noisy place, so a visit to pumpkin Park is so relaxing. It's a well looked after Park offering beautiful gardens. Nice place to take in the lush green surroundings.  more »

  • This place is so cool. Really great place to bring kids as a tourists. There are lots of fish turtles and the best part are the large monitor lizards that you will see by the water. There are locals that sell food to feed the fish. The playground is okay. Just a peaceful place to go. Can also rent paddle boats.
  • Loved it. Very pretty. Little temples, pagodas and boating. Take your time and you'll see one of the metre long monitor lizards, perhaps even chewing on a large fish it's grabbed from one of the lovely lakes. I couldn't get an ice cream or drink once in the park sadly, so if you're taking kiss, be prepared before you go.
  • Lumphini park is a park with many faces. During the day you can have a nice and quiet rest somewhere on a bench. At the end of the day you’ll find people exercising aerobics at many locations throughout the park. And at the end of the day, don’t get run over by runners who are investing the area massively. Another experience is the presence of quite a monstrous creature; the monitor lizard. You have to like it because the animal does not look sweet, cute or like able (at least not for me). There have been many more years ago and to me it’s unknown why the population seems to shrink. Anyone out there who knows what happened? Beside the influence of park management and the government... Shortly put, the park is an awesome place to spend an afternoon. Many things to see and a perfect hideaway from the busy citylife. Always nice to have places like that in Bangkok.
  • If you need a time out from Bangkok come here. As parks go there are probably nicer ones to be had, but we liked it so much that we came back here several times during our stay. It has a big lake and there are plenty if benches to sit on and many people are having picnics here. In the evenings / when it is getting a bit cooler there are a lot of runners and it gets quite lively. For us the main draw to this park is funnily enough the wildlife. We love going out onto the lake with one of the swan boats and try to spot as many monitor lizards (there are some very big ones), turtles, frogs and birds etc as we can. Of course you can do exactly the same without a boat as well. There's also a playground for kids.
  • One of Bangkok's largest public parks. A place to gather people both Thai and foreigners.Come to relax, exercise, live with family. Some people come running. Some people come to talk. Some people come boating. Some people come to listen music.Another lung of Bangkok.
