Lumpini Park, Bangkok

4.3
#1 of 990 in Parks in Thailand
Take a break from the concrete and glass hubbub of contemporary Bangkok at Lumpini Park, an open public space offering much-welcomed urban relief for residents and tourists. Trees, grass, and views unimpeded by nearby buildings are something of a rarity in the city center, contributing to this green space's immense popularity. Take a boat out onto the man-made lake or enjoy a bike ride along its many cycling and walking paths. With a library, playgrounds, and over 30 species of birds making their home here, the park has plenty to offer visitors of all ages. • Park is nice, clean and quite large. Right after sunset birds and monkeys start their evening concert. Plenty of people, it is worth to take a blankiet and spent some time here. Outdoor gym for Thai (...  more »

  • Love this place. Walk anytime, check out monitor lizards, feed cats or fish anytime (like 4:00 am to 8:00 pm) and ride bikes from 10-3...people-watch, meet strange men offering massage or “company” - the ladies are outside on the periphery. Please stop walking when the national anthem plays at 8:00 or 6:00. Yoga and tai chi in the morning. Aerobics too. Sweet to see old folks being escorted by young family members.
  • Probably my favourite place to visit when on holiday in Bangkok. Litter free and well maintained by it's hard working gardeners. Offering everyone a safe and enjoyable visit for young and old. I have been fortunate enough to attend many of the events held here . A credit to Thailand .
  • One of our favorite little spots to get away from the rush especially if you travel with small children. It has a large outdoor playground. Located in the center and sometime hosts cultural events. Locals come here to picnic, it's neat and we'll maintained. If you look you will see large lizards sunbathing here and there occasionally a turtle.
  • It is good park. Have lakes, boating facility (which was very cheap), many fountains. But mostly have many gym equipment for public use. Inside park have jogging track, swimming pool, tennis, basketball courts also. No entrance fee. Good place to relax. Best time is after 0400 clock.
  • Very nice park in the center of Bangkok. Every evening hundreds of people running. But there’s plenty of space for your daily exercises anyway. Have a walk, have some drinks, watch the dragons and turtles swimming and walking around. Amazing...!

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
