  • The beautiful and creepy Buddha head shrouded by trees trees teaches us that time wraps around everything, even the glories of the past. Another temple complex looted following the abandonment of the city of ayutthaia. See how the rest of the complex. G&G

  • The temple is free to explore and look at. Allot to take in here and a large site. The temple looks and feel very different between day and night so worth visiting at both times if you can. There are information boards depicting what is there. If you are respectful there then there will be no issues with how long you stay. Toilets and shops close by as well with car park, but the parking is quite limited.
  • A fascinating ancient site with the old relics from the city of Ayutthaya. One of the most prominent features of this is the head of buddha wrapped by the roots of the tree. It was said that the buddha was desecrated when the invaders came to the ancient Siam capital. The head fell near that tree and for centuries, roots started to grow around it and wrapped it as if protecting the head from further damage. The place is magical. It's like a journey to the past.
  • While there are many attractions to see in Ayutthaya, this is one thing that is a must see. Wat Mahathat is one big ruined temple. I recommend to visit in the morning otherwise it can get very hot and humid and the kids may not be too happy about this sightseeing.
  • Very beautiful. Foreign people have to pay a fee. In this Temple is where you can see the Buddha face in the tree. Probably the most famous symbol of the Ayuthaya city. Also the ruins are really amazing and you can see all the figures (except 2) without head or body parts. This Temple suffered the war and it is easy to observe such thing...
  • It's a beautiful temple and well worth taking your time exploring. Come here early because after 10am, the tour buses show up and there will be a crowd wanting to take pictures of the Buddha head.
