Mustafa Centre, Singapore

#4 of 196 in Shopping in Singapore
Buy almost anything you can imagine for a bargain price at Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour department store. With a reputation as Singapore's "one-stop shop," the store offers everything from supermarket goods to household appliances, and even features an entire level dedicated to selling gold. You can also exchange foreign currency, apply for a foreign visa, or enjoy some Indian food. Be prepared for security guards to inspect your personal belonging and cable-tie your bags shut at the entrance. • The Mustafa Centre can be embedded in a script that includes Little India or Arab Street, for those who want to shop. This department store has it all: watches, textiles, jewelry, electronics, a "mundaréu" of things and knick-knacks as far as the eye can see. The prices really don't differ much from found the city streets. The differential could very well be the air conditioning, because I think well embarrassed walking in a closed, prefer open markets even. You can't bring bags, you need to leave it on the porch. If you do point to buy something there, it's worth the visit, but in general I don't recommend walking, have exhibitions and much more interesting malls in Singapore.

  • Halal hand pulled noodle. The noodle is freshly made (hands made, obviously) and rather soft and chewy. The portion is quite generous, so it could feed 2 persons. Or if your appetite is good, might be two bowls for 3 peoples. The place is quite big, able to take around 40+ peoples (around 12 tables). It's situated near Mustafa, finding parking is quite a challenge (especially during weekend). When we visited the place (around 2pm), most of the foods on the menu are sold out. So we only order hand pulled noodle with minced meat and with sliced meat. There are stream of patrons, expect to wait between 15-30 minutes during peak.
  • Cheap products are plenty. Check before buying. There is no packaging of products. I bought a costly fraud pepper mill. After reaching home in India, tried to use it. But cannot even fill it. There is no such product in the internet too. Totally useless. I regret buying it.
  • The shopping center is located in Little India. Surroundings are about Indian culture. Many shops around this area sales cheap products--souvenirs and clothes. There are many Indian restaurants around, and they are pricey of course. Mustafa is good for tourists. Some products are cheap, I don't say about quality... It's very crowded even in the late night. Thousands of goods there. I bought imported chocolate from Italy, which I hoped it's tasty and not expensive--actually it is yummy. Please check expiry date before you buy things to eat there. Some are expired.
  • This is the one and only single location supermarket that operates 24 hours around the year. Nearest subway station is Farrer Park. You can find almost everything from this place, you name it they have it except.for pork and its related product because this is a Halal supermarket. If you are looking for exotic spices, this is the place you can find. There is public restroom here, wheelchair friendly entrance and carpark. No stroller nor scooter rental is available. You can definitely find fresh produces here.
  • Nice place to shop, especially if you are looking for some specific Indian stuff. Remains open 24 Hours. Can Finds almost all major brands. The staff too is very helpful and polite. A Complete On Stop Shopping destination.

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
