Food Playground, Singapore

5.0
#1 of 16 in Classes in Singapore
Food Playground is a hands-on cooking school that utilises cooking as an avenue to:

a) Provide a cultural immersion experience that showcases Singapore's food culture and heritage

b) Meet corporate team building objectives

c) Enhance interaction in social functions.

Unlike mainstream cooking schools that hire chefs, Food Playground's social mission is to provide meaningful employment by engaging stay-at-home mums and active seniors as culinary instructors and kitchen assistants.

  • Amazing! Went on four days - with one or both my teenage boys. A safe and supportive environment to learn the art of traditional cooking of local food. friendly and encouraging staff. Most enjoyable and absolutely YUM! Great location - easy to get to on public transport.
  • This cooking class was a fantastic experience for our small family of 3. Helen and Regina are lovely ladies and they were very friendly, helpful and informative. Our 11 year old daughter throughly enjoyed her first ever cooking lesson, Helen & Regina made her feel very welcome and comfortable. We would highly recommend the Cultral Cooking class, it's a must do when visiting Singapore. Thank you Food Playground.
  • its very good learning and my wife and I had alot of fun. the recipe/food is really delicious!! love it!
  • My boyfriend and I have always been keen on taking cooking classes together, but I must say, the experience at food playground really blew our expectations out of the water. It was fun, interactive, informative and enriching! Even as a Singaporean, I was able to learn more about our unique food heritage through Lydia and Mary's skilful story-telling. Truly had the best time and I would highly recommend this to everyone!
  • We had the best time! The recipes were great for any level of cooking and I will definitely try to make them for my family when I go home. Would recommend to anyone traveling through Singapore or on exchange like myself. I learned so much about traditional food and culture that I otherwise wouldn't have during my months on exchange.

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
