  • I have had a fantastic visit to Kopan Monastery. Literally, I have no words to express about this place. This place will mediate you in a second with its peaceful environment.  more »
  • Nice and sure must be open before you go. Once in a while some meditation classes, and not in public. Worth visiting are quite painful, but it is. Walk from Buda. I think it takes about an hour. Also cafes and views all while coffee was very good. Chai shop near me also had to shelter from the rain. All kind.

  • Situated on a hill, Kopan Monastery overlooks Kathmandu valley. Here monks are extensively trained on philosophical subjects. It offers great views of Kathmandu valley. With lovely grounds and nice ambience, it is a perfect place for retreat. Even if you are not inclined towards spiritualism, you will love the place for the environment. You feel energized once you are here. You also get great food for a very reasonable rate.
  • Overall was a great experience, great people, wonderful meditation sessions, comfortable facilities and friendly staff. Unfortunately, teachings were disappointing, they were very dull, repetitive and at time irrelevant to folks who are simply trying to improve themselves without seeking enlightenment, I honestly think there are much better places to learn about Buddhism than Kopan, which is a shame because they were doing their best. I would advise you to do your research before hand.
  • A great experience, share my retreat and learn from them during one month. I am so grateful to got the opportunity to be there. kopan will be always in my heart. This was definitely a defining moment for me.
  • One of the lesser known places in Kathmandu that let's you spend time with Monks, offer prayers, meditate and also enjoy delectable food at the cafe. Don't forget to buy postcards from the souvenir shop as well.
  • Oh what an incredible experience it is to visit this beautiful monastery. We were fortunate to visit when a puja (ceremony) was taking place. The temple was filled with monks and nuns chanting. The sound being played over loud speakers was just magical. We visited Kopan via an arranged tour which included spending a couple of hours with a senior monk. An added bonus was the view of Kathmandu Valley.
