Garden of Dreams, Kathmandu

4.1
#1 of 82 in Parks in Nepal
Escape the city hubbub and retreat to Garden of Dreams, a peaceful garden complex renowned for its scenic pavilions. Also known as the “Garden of Six Seasons," it was built in 1920 for Field Marshall Kaiser Sumsher Rana and was abandoned after his death in the 1960s. Today, restored with help of the Austrian government, it remains a landmark of Kathmandu and a popular spot for a relaxing stroll. Roaming the lush gardens, you can admire Edwardian-style inspired fountains, birdhouses, gazebos, and other picturesque decorations. • A different world in the middle of the overcrowded Kathmandu city. A place to be with the loved ones or family and friends. Visitors can enjoy the photography and spend a quality time in a peaceful environment. Further the cafe inside serves food with good quality and taste. One can always get excited to visit the place, I am no exception to that.
  • 1. Like an oasis (garden) in a desert (Kathmandu city). 2. Peaceful and beautiful. 3. Great place if you would like to have wonderful time with yourself or friends or family or love. 4. Gets crowded on weekend 5. Loved the Kaiser cafe inside.
  • I like the way it is and the location as well, very good place to hang around with your friends. In the heart of the city you find such a cool and clean place. It is a great place to go and make your mood good in the garden. You can see many people coming here and all of them are in there own world. I have been there with my laptop and written some great articles as well that means its a peaceful place. You can also take your loved ones over there as a pair and its a great place to take your partner.
  • Many people recommended this place, but to be honest, I probably would not return. It's a nice garden in the middle of the dusty city of Kathmandu. For the locals it might be a respite from the noise, but not really worth it from my perspective if you are visiting for a few days. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
  • It's a part of an ancient palace turned into recreational place. It's has nice park and restaurant plus an art gallery. The place is very near thamel a tourist hub in Kathmandu. Because of this the place is well known among foreigners too. It's a nice place to hang out with friends for couple of hours in peaceful environment. Can be over crowded in holidays...
