Humayun's Tomb, New Delhi

#1 of 2,536 in Parks in India
Marvel at one of the nation's most renowned mausoleums at Humayun's Tomb, a World Heritage Site displaying a fusion of both Mughal and Persian architectural features. Built in 1565 on orders from Akbar, the son of the Emperor Humayun, the mausoleum represents the first in a long line of "garden-tombs" that defined Mughal architecture over the following centuries. You can admire the intricate red sandstone and white marble construction, topped with an impressive dome, as you wander the extensive grounds dotted with shrines and monuments. Enter the memorial to get a glimpse of Humayun's final resting place. Many of the architectural designs used on the tomb and its surrounding buildings helped to inspire the Taj Mahal. Its a historical place, a World Heritage Site. This place has gardens (charbagh), fountains all around the tomb. The Tomb is in square shape with a terrace like platform. Humayun's Tomb is a good place to visit from a tourist point of view as well as for morning/evening walk. Walking on the grass barefoot is recommended.

Great place to spend some quality time with family either in the morning or the evening. It will be open from morning 7 to Eve 6. In afternoon for Delhi atmosphere u cannot fell the actual beauty of this architecture. It does have a very good garden with poor maintenance.

The place is full of peace and serenity. Jaw dropping Architecture of humanyuns tomb and Isa khans tomb. One can sit with friends and family in the lush green garden early morning and enjoy the view and peace :)

This place is serene and offers a very good insight to the mughal architecture. The tombs are well maintained. The only thing i would like to suggest is please try not to go near the graves with shoes on.
