Humayun's Tomb, New Delhi

Marvel at one of the nation's most renowned mausoleums at Humayun's Tomb, a World Heritage Site displaying a fusion of both Mughal and Persian architectural features. Built in 1565 on orders from Akbar, the son of the Emperor Humayun, the mausoleum represents the first in a long line of "garden-tombs" that defined Mughal architecture over the following centuries. You can admire the intricate red sandstone and white marble construction, topped with an impressive dome, as you wander the extensive grounds dotted with shrines and monuments. Enter the memorial to get a glimpse of Humayun's final resting place. Many of the architectural designs used on the tomb and its surrounding buildings helped to inspire the Taj Mahal. • Best to visit in morning when nobody is around. Opens at 6.30. Good huge place to explore. 30rs. for Indian is a good price to visit.Clean tidy place. A detailed book of importance of this place should be provided which should be reusable for tourists again and again. Toilets available in good condition. Less crowded, nice green fields with bushes and trees around the old structure make you feel of living in past time. Just Rs.30 entry per person (Indian) is cheap. It's great place if you want come along with your family but make sure to stuff your stomach with enough food as no eatables are allowed in there. I like reading under the trees as usually this is a quite place with cushioned grasses all over the year.
  • Nice and peaceful attraction with a lot of history. Complex a lot larger than you might think- takes about 90 minutes to see everything. I thought that there should be a lot more information plaques as there were hardly any. Thankfully not one person wanted a picture with me which was nice. Also, be aware of the rickshaw drivers who will approach you the minute you approach the car park. They will offer outrageous rates or will force you to visit shops where the driver gets commission. Just ignore them and get one from the roundabout outside.
  • This is a wonderful place to visit! The grounds are beautiful. It is extremely interesting. There is ample space to walk around. There are places for you to sit and relax. If you want to sit on the grass or on park benches, there are many options. It is truly a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of this large and crowded city. We go to Deli often as a family and make it a point to stop at Humayun's Tomb every time. We never tire of it's beauty.

  • Testimony in itself, such a beautiful peace of work. The interact work, enormous construction and the colourful gardens will never allow you to leave the place. The best time to visit early morning when nobody around. Rest enjoy the beauty and live your moments with friends.
