#1 of 76 in Parks in Mumbai
Enter Kanheri Caves to explore an underground world of rock-cut monuments and natural works of art. Walk through some of dozens of basaltic rock caves that lie hidden within the forest of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. As you go deeper, examine traces of Buddhist art and Indian culture, since numerous unfinished paintings decorate the moist walls. • It's must visit place if you are interested in visiting historic places. It has 100 caves approximately. We visited during the summer, i suggest that one must visit here after monsoon to enjoy the greenery. To reach there, there are mini van and bus services available from National Park entrance. You can also rent bicycles or motor-cycles without gear for from the entrance. You can also go there by you own vehicles like motor-cycles, cars, etc. you have pay extra charge for entry ticket for those vehicles.
  • Don't get me started for this place. It's so peaceful. I've walked 6 kilometers back and forth several times just to come here and have a cold drink. After that once you enter all of the caves ( which are more than 100 I believe) you will not feel like leaving this place. The peace and the beauty of this place! I love it. Do come here and if you can, by walking alone or in a group! I bet you'll savour the whole journey once you reach the top.
  • Astounding! Visited this place recently. This is one of the rare places you believe did not exist anymore. It is situated in the heart of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. You will find a lot of private vehicles providing the transportation facility to this place. (In case you don't have your own). And irrespective of whether you like trekking or not, this "Kanheri Caves" should be in your list of must visit places.
  • Best place in मुंबई.. Well maintained.. Toilet available at top.. Good to visit with family 👪.. Enjoy the riding of bus 🚍.. Some people costs for private transportation... That is what they are to much costs... You must go vja bus 🚍 at 14₹ for one side.. 😅
  • Ancient History unfolded. Of Buddhist Monks and their Lifestyle. From their praying quarters to the Water Conservation they bestowed by their sheer Grit of Hardwork & Deep Knowledge of The Preservation of The Environment, outstanding! Those monolithic monuments so deep and huge. Caves as Natural Habitats, so well preserved by their hard strong rock nature. A real eye opener to the wonder of ancient living and meditation. Must visit. All transportation facilities available like BEST Buses & other Public Transport.
