Boasting more than a 1,000 species of tropical plants, the park is a colorful sanctuary with a hillside location. Enjoy a quiet ramble through a well-kept botanical landscape, keeping a keen eye out for the crimson tinted rosefinch, often found on the aromatic branches of the cinnamomum trees scattered across the park. • The Sim's Park in Coonoor is one of the best parks to visit in South India. The place is much less crowded that the Ooty Botanical garden and also I feel better laid out. The park is on a sloping hill...  more »

  • A balanced combination of a family park and a well-curated botanical garden. For people not very eager about species and genus of trees and foliage, the park with boating facilities is ideal. It is quite expansive, and people enter with food to enjoy picnics even though the rules forbid them to do so. However, one can play with children in the many green patches. Steps and pathways are clean.
  • It is a good place for a half day picnic. Boating is there. We can relax in the nature. Garden is wonderful. Restrooms are there. Nursery is there. Outside the park, we can buy exotic fruits like tree tomato, passion fruit, wild custard Apple. No good restaurants nearby.
  • The place is calm. Good for a walk or to seat and enjoy the nature. You can see variety of trees and plants here. Botanical names of some of them can be seen nearby, maybe on the tree itself or on a board next to it. It will take at least an hour to freely roam around the park. Also, there were fishes in the pond that is in the center of the park. It's open till 6:30 pm. You will notice more couples in the park than nature enthusiasts.
  • Better garden than botanical ooty. A place to see the old seeds brought from foreign countries and planted here from years. For a layman it's a place to take some pics and do boating if one likes. I still see it as a family place and it can be good if you visit in spring.
  • Steep Climb down the hill. Boating was not worth the place. Lot many herbal plants. Fresh air with lots of rare birds. Good place for ornithologist. Difficult to climb up again.
