Marjan, Split

#1 of 17 in Parks in Split
Hike, jog, and cycle at Marjan, a favorite weekend destination and the city's recreation center. From here you can take in views of the entire city, the surrounding islands, and the nearby mountains. Dense Mediterranean pine forest covers the 178 m (584 ft) tall hill. The area features jogging trails, tennis courts, a botanical garden, a zoo, lookout points, and a water pipeline with drinkable water. When you need a break from all the activity, enjoy a drink at the cafe with a view of the sea. Cars are not allowed in the park. • Good trip for those who want to be more active during your holiday, nice view and good leads. Not at all, even though we visited Split during the high season. However, the missing water stations on the way down, so bring a big water bottle. Recommend this to anyone who likes to hike, or who want to see a great view!

  • For lovers of walking, Marjan turns out to be an essential part of the region. After climbing a (good) flight of stairs, the points of view on the Bay are multiplying, offering spectacular as beautiful landscapes. Point to note, Marjan Park offers access to many beaches, such as those near Bene or Katsuni. Passing through Split, hesitate not to allow a half or even a whole day to conduct a market, I highly recommend!

  • A nice walk up the hill. None of which was signposted. Got to the flag and had a great view over the wider split area. Go early before it gets too hot  more »

  • Marjan hill is a wonderful place to get a panoramic view of the city of Split. The climb is quite easy and the view is worth it. The park is huge and one can spend a lot of time here! Definitely something to do while in Split ! Don't forget to carry food and water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes as Split is quite hot in the summer months !

Where to stay in Split

Split and its surrounding area boast an extensive system of private accommodations for rent, which range from simply furnished rooms to elegantly outfitted multi-room apartments. Many locals approach travelers at the main bus station with offers of available lodgings, but before you agree to anything, make sure you know the room's exact location in reference to the town center. For something more luxurious, check out the city's four- and five-star hotels, or consider an elegant villa a walk away from the major sights.
